Peter Westermann (1984) was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and grew up in West Allis and Waterford. He is currently a 5th year student earning his bachelors degree in Art and Design at Carroll College. Recently, he did artwork for the well known hard rock band, Tool. His art was featured on the front cover of Madison's Maximum Ink Magazine for a special issue featuring an interview with the lead singer. His illustration skills include drawing, geometric shapes, digital art & design and video editing. He is now a full time artist and designer, taking classes part time in order to focus on his work before he graduates. Peter combines photography, airbrushing, digital color mixing, line art and geometric shape design using fractal mathematics. His thoughts and views are on the function and role of art in society. He feels art can serve as a mirror for human thought and potential, with these thoughts in mind....he uses it as a possible portal to the never-ending expansion of human consciousness and capacity. Most of his inspiration is derived from music, creative individuals, and the creative energy that we all have. Most of his works are based on energy and creating a strong sense of atmosphere. I can see that he puts a great deal of thought and focus into all of his creations.
Tool introduced Peter to the concept of the third eye concept which he says is one of the most pivotal concepts he has ever learned. He tries to see the world through that concept as much as possible. This has opened his creative spirit to be able to create over and over again. This invokes image and ideas that no other concepts have been able to do.
Highest price for his artwork is $250.00 for his image titled, "MUSIC".
